| Llama |
| Pet Type: Farm Animals |
| Lifespan: 20 years |
Characteristics: Llamas originated in North America almost 40 million years ago. They are social animals and prefer to live in herds. They do not do well as adults if they have been oversocialized. They pecking order of the Llama herd can change with just a few kicks. Llamas tend to treat people that have oversocailized them as they would treat the herd; this includes kicking, spitting, and neck biting. Socialization is important but they should never be made to act like a pet. They should be provided adequate space and a fresh water supply at all time. They are usually wary of people and will approach with caution. They are often used for the fiber in their coats, and as pack animals. |
